I have been looking at different names that would be appropriate for my magazine, which would be used to promote my film. Considering this I would have to make the magazine appeal to:
My target audience
Movie Fans
Critics
Other people interested in buying this magazine
The magazine I design will have to appeal to a wider audience beyond my target audience as it's sole purpose is not to advertise my film, they will also want to talk about future films, feature films, horrow films and comedies. So when I come to creating my magazine I will have to create a project that represents all of these aspects.
I have decided on the name PREMIER for my magazine. I decided on this because I wanted a classy sounding magazine, something that people will look at and think 'Quality'. Yet also I wanted them to know that it was a movie magazine, and not, for example a fashion magazine. With this name you automatically think of a movie magazine as 'PREMIER' is a word you associate with films, also a word you may associate with glamour and celebrities, ultimatly leading to the image that i desire for my magazine.
I have showed this name to a few people who regularly buy movie magazines, the majority of whom have a subscription to one of the big branded international magazines, 'EMPIRE' here is a few of their comments:
"Premier is a great name it will look good on a magazine"
"You automatically think of movies and the red carpet when you think of it"
"I think hollywood"
"Some people might not like it if they dont like hollywood movies"
"Does it appeal to the audience you want? I think it does."
These are just a few examples of what people have said, the other people i asked said the same or similar things to this.
I think it is fair to say that this is a good name for my movie magazine as it sets up the audience for twhat they expect to find in the magazine, and it is also one of the first things you see when you look at a magazine.
